Theory course about celestial navigation and world weather systems for skipper who wants to do an ocean passage.

Using a GPS is good , but what are your options if your equipment or satellites does not work anymore ? Along the coast we can use radar or landmarks to find our position . On the ocean we can only use the heavenly bodies.

Course content	how does a sextant works adjustment of a sextant find our position using the heavenly bodies position plotting (running fix) World weather systems developing of tropical storms avoiding tropical storms compass check with the sun
Certification	RYA /MCA Ocean shorebased certificate Certificate of competence Yachtmaster ocean For the CoC yachtmaster ocean the candidate must take an oral practical exam with a RYA examiner . The exam candidate must has accomplished a nonstop ocean passage with 600 miles stop as skipper or first mate with the use of a sextant. The candidate must be involved with the passage planning , route planning, navigation, managing the material , equipment ,goods , water and food , organisation of watches. He / she must keep a log and position by using the sextant. The ship must at open sea during minimum 96 hours and stay away at least 50 miles from closest land.
